Sky Views Miami Observation Wheel. Soaring nearly 200 feet above Biscayne Bay, the Observation Wheel was designed by Switzerland-based Ronald Bussink and is modeled after the London Eye on the south bank of the Thames River. The wheel was designed to allow explorers to take in extraordinary views of Biscayne Bay, Bayfront Park, and the iconic Downtown Miami skyline.

But is there an urban planning and city development intention that can be analyzed through the city’s observation wheel? This new fixture offers a new iconic presence in the city’s skyline and a new attraction for tourists to enjoy. The observation wheel will attract tourism back to Downtown Miami and help revive Biscayne Bay. The area has seen a lot of development and investments in the last few years, and the $18 million wheel helps support the intention the city has in the growth of this area.

Do you think Miami’s Observation Wheel is attached to the city’s development projects? Will it help revive the area?
